Job Description
Risk Management Framework
• Develop and document risk policies; submit for approval to the Board
• Implement risk processes and tools, e.g., stress testing, to assess risk
• Study and implement as appropriate ICP 8 Risk Management and ICP 16 Enterprise Risk Management
• Ensure that the risk management system includes, at a minimum, underwriting, reserving, asset-liability management, investments, operational risk, and reinsurance
Risk Management Process
• Identification: ensure timely identification, e.g., new products that have a significant impact on company risk exposure
• Assessment: proper review and measurement of risk, i.e., impact, probability, etc.
• Mitigation: collaborate with reinsurance, commercial, etc., to propose suitable mitigation actions
• Reporting: timely and accurate reporting of risks in accordance with the risk taxonomy
Periodic Reporting
• Manage the monthly data collection process
• Prepare quarterly board risk reports
Risk Policies
• Develop a framework for the company’s risk budget/appetite
• Draft necessary documents for Board approval and reporting
• Develop an Asset-Liability Management framework
Knowledge Transfer and Internal Capabilities Building
• Build internal insurance risk management knowledge
• Collaborate with external experts, reinsurers, etc., to strengthen insurance risk management expertise
• Attend and participate in domestic and international insurance risk management seminars
• Educate risk management staff and other colleagues at an appropriate level of detail
Job Requirements
• University degree in a business-related field or its equivalent and/or MBA is preferred
• Leadership: have lead teams
• Familiarity with insurance laws and regulations is a plus
• At least 3 years of experience in Risk Management within Financial Services.
• Must have knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management.
• Must have good command of Myanmar and English in written and verbal.
• Must have the will to learn and develop oneself.
• Active and energetic individuals preferred.
• Basic understanding of life and general insurance products
• Ideally, work experience in a control function
• Experience drafting policies and proposals and engaging with senior executives or board members
• Project management experience
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to self-motivate and learn new domain knowledge and skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Excellent writing skills in Burmese and English, e.g., policy documents
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel modeling and other data manipulation software
• Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Operations, Legal, Audit) and external stakeholders (e.g., Insurance Business Regulatory Board (IBRB), Financial Regulatory Department (FRD))
