Underwriting Associate
Job Description
- Conduct risk assessments by reviewing insurance applications and proposal forms, survey reports, and supporting documents.
- Assist with risk evaluations using set guidelines to determine eligibility and assess new and renewal policies.
- Calculate premiums based on risk factors, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate with senior underwriters to gain knowledge of advanced risk assessment techniques and seek guidance on complex cases.
- Prepare quotations and policy summaries under supervision.
- Use underwriting software to enter risk details, calculate premiums, and manage documentation for debit note and policy processing.
- Coordinate with internal teams to gather or clarify underwriting information as required.
- Maintain organized records and ensure data accuracy in underwriting documents for internal audits and compliance checks.
- Prepare daily and monthly summary reports using quotation and policy data.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Line Manager and Head of department.
Job Requirements
- Any bachelor’s degree.
Proficient in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills. - Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn underwriting software.
- Analytical skills to assist with risk calculations and eligibility assessments.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in reviewing documents and data entry.
- Good numerical skills for standard risk and premium calculations.
- Willingness to learn about underwriting principles, risk assessment, and premium calculation.
- Effective communication skills for working with internal teams and reporting findings.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain organization in high-volume document processing.
