On 1 December 2025, KBZMS General Insurance, in collaboration with InterRisk Asia (Thailand), hosted the “Earthquake Risk Management & Business Continuity in Myanmar Seminar” at the Chatrium Hotel.

The purpose of this seminar was to bring together government agencies, private-sector leaders, civil society organizations, and international experts to strengthen preparedness for Myanmar’s disaster-prone environment and to support the continuity of business operations during emergencies.

The seminar was organized into two key sessions. The morning session featured participation from both international and local business organizations, while the afternoon session focused on discussions led by members of the Japanese business community regarding Myanmar–Japan collaboration in earthquake risk management.

The event opened with remarks by U Thant Zin, Deputy Director General of Financial Regulatory Department under the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, who opened the seminar by highlighting the importance of national-level preparedness for natural disasters.

A panel discussion titled “Collaborating for Continuity: Lessons from the Mandalay Earthquake” was then moderated by Mr. Shihab Uddin Ahamad, Country Director of ActionAid International, Chairman of FIN Myanmar, and Vice President of the Myanmar–Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce.
Panel speakers included:

Mr. Lafir Mohammad — Head of Partnership & Program, ActionAid International.

They collectively discussed key lessons, shared perspectives, and explored ways to enhance Myanmar’s resilience and continuity planning.

In addition, experts from InterRisk Asia (Thailand) delivered a clear and insightful overview of Myanmar’s earthquake risks, probability assessments, and practical, actionable countermeasures designed to help organizations strengthen preparedness and reduce vulnerability.
