Actuarial Analyst
Job Purpose
The primary role of this actuarial position is to provide comprehensive support in various actuarial functions through rigorous data analysis, accurate valuation and solvency calculations, and efficient product pricing. The position entails extracting, cleaning, and analyzing data to inform business decisions and incorporating these analyses into management reports. Key responsibilities include supporting the calculation of actuarial reserves and solvency capital, aiding in the pricing of new products, and coordinating with the appointed actuary to resolve data queries.
Job Description
Implementation and Compliance
- Support implementation of actuarial reserves in accordance with IBRB directives
- Lead the implementation of annual strategic business plans in alignment with broader company goals and objectives.
- Coordinate the submission of actuarial and risk-related data to regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and deadlines.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Extract data from databases based on specific business parameters.
- Clean and validate extracted data and perform analyses on data sets.
- Conduct in-depth data analysis for management reporting, including data collection, cleaning, and validation.
- Incorporate results of data analyses in management reports.
Actuarial Valuation and Solvency
- Support calculation of actuarial reserves such as IBNR.
- Participate in calculation of solvency capital as per FRD’s instructions.
Product Development and Pricing
- Support product development and product pricing, including preparation of actuarial certificates in collaboration with external actuarial advisors.
- Support pricing of new products through various methods such as Excel modeling, expense studies, or claim studies.
- Liaise with the appointed actuary on any data queries.
External Collaboration
- Act as the main contact point with external actuarial advisors
Job Requirements
- BE (Con/Stats) or BSc (Maths) is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in an actuarial role is preferred.
- Progress towards professional actuarial certification is desirable.
- Excellent in English proficiency both writing and speaking.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint & Excel).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data modeling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
