Senior Database Administrator
Job Description
Database Administration & Maintenance:
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases and other database systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Manage data warehouse architecture to support large-scale data processing and analytics.
- Monitor database performance and proactively address bottlenecks.
- Implement and optimize database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Perform capacity planning, tuning, indexing, configuring and optimization for databases.
- Automate database tasks using scripting (SQL, Bash, PowerShell).
Security & Compliance:
- Ensure knowledge in data security, encryption, and access controls in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain database audit policies to track and monitor access.
- Work closely with IT security teams to harden database environments against cyber threats.
Data Integration & Reporting:
- Design and manage ETL processes for integrating structured and unstructured data from various sources into the data warehouse.
- Collaborate with reporting teams to enable data accessibility for reporting and analytics.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across reporting platforms.
- Assist developers with database design, queries and stored procedures.
Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support for database-related incidents and service requests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, working with application and infrastructure teams.
- Support upgrades, patches, and migrations for databases and reporting tools.
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in database administration, preferably in the financial services industry.
- Expertise in Oracle databases (12c/19c+), PL/SQL, MySQL, SQL Server and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of ETL tools (Informatica, Talend, SSIS, etc.) and data integration.
- Familiarity with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Jasper, Tableau, or Oracle BI.
- Strong understanding of database security, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Experience with data warehouse/lakes (AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, Hadoop, or similar technologies) and cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) would be a plus.
- Knowledge of data for AI/ML would be a plus.
- Excellent communication & presentation skills.
- Good in English both in speaking and writing (mandatory).
