Network Engineer
Job Purpose
The Network Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure. The role focuses on ensuring high availability, robust security, optimal performance, and alignment with organizational technology goals.
Job Description
- Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, VLANs, and wireless networks for HQ and branches.
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
- Plan network expansions, upgrades, and migrations to support business growth.
- Ensure network redundancy and failover mechanisms are in place for high availability.
- Monitor network performance, analyze traffic patterns, and optimize bandwidth utilization.
- Implement and enforce network security policies, including firewall rules, access control, and intrusion prevention.
- Keep network devices updated with the latest firmware and security patches.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues efficiently, minimizing downtime and impact on operations.
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring network problems and implement preventive measures.
- Provide network support for VMware environments, backup systems, IP telephony, and PABX systems.
- Support call center and branch network operations to ensure 24/7 uptime.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and operational documentation.
- Report network status, performance metrics, and incident resolution to management.
- Provide recommendations for network improvements and capacity planning.
- Work closely with IT teams, system administrators, and vendors to implement network solutions.
- Stay current with emerging networking technologies, tools, and best practices.
- Participate in IT projects initiatives related to network infrastructure.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network, or equivalent.
- Proven experience with enterprise networking, routing, switching, and network security.
- Knowledge of VPN, firewall policies, wireless network design, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and network performance metrics.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
