Senior Associate – Underwriting
Job Purpose
To support the underwriting process by conducting risk assessments, calculating premiums, managing data entry, and handling documentation for assigned products. The role includes preparing risk profile data, generating monthly and yearly reports, and maintaining accurate policy records for daily and monthly reporting purposes.
Job Description
- Conduct risk assessments by reviewing insurance applications/proposal forms, survey reports, and supporting documents.
- Assist in risk evaluations using established guidelines to determine eligibility for new and renewal policies.
- Calculate premiums based on risk factors in line with underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate with senior underwriters to enhance knowledge of advanced risk assessment techniques and seek guidance on complex cases.
- Prepare quotations and policy summaries under supervision.
- Use underwriting software to input risk details, calculate premiums, and manage documentation for debit note and policy issuance.
- Coordinate with internal teams to gather or clarify underwriting information as required.
- Maintain organized and accurate records in underwriting documents for internal audits and compliance purposes.
- Prepare daily and monthly summary reports using quotation and policy data.
- Compile and maintain risk profile data for assessments.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Line Manager or Head of Department.
Job Requirements
- Any bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in underwriting Commercial Lines products.
- Proficient in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn underwriting software.
- Strong analytical skills for risk calculations and eligibility assessments.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in document review and data entry.
- Good numerical skills for risk and premium calculations.
- Eagerness to learn underwriting principles, risk assessment methods, and premium computation.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration and reporting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle high volumes of documentation and meet deadlines.
